Elphinstone Car Park is located on the Plymouth Hoe sea front just past the Barbican. It is a popular fishing location due to being easily accessible and comfortable to fish from.
The right hand side facing Mount Batten is the most popular due to being deeper and away from the cars in the car park! The rest of the car park is also popular for people who wish to fish from their cars and offers clean sand to fish over.
Common Species Caught Here
Mackerel, Garfish, Wrasse, Pollack, Blennies, Dogfish, Pouting and Whiting.
Less Common Species You May Catch
Thornback Ray, Bass, Bream, Conger Eel, Gurnard.
Ragworm usually catches the most fish here as the bottom is sandy. Mackerel will be better if you are after Mackerel, Gar or Dogfish though.
Elphinstone is well known for having lots of species close in. This means you can fish either on a float or on the bottom right down the side and catch fish such as Pollack, Blennies and Wrasse. Lots of people also fish on floats further out to target Mackerel and Garfish.
